Fairgrounds Bond Statement – Nov. 9

“Glacier Ice Rink has been working with Friends of our Fairgrounds to pass a $19 million bond for Fairgrounds improvements, including a new ice rink and a livestock center. Unfortunately, the bond failed to pass in the general election.

We are disappointed with this result, but also understand that it was a big ask from voters given the current economic situation. The bond campaign allowed us to highlight the important role Glacier Ice Rink plays in our community and the need for expanded ice facilities.

Our vision of a third sheet of ice is not gone, it is simply paused.

In the meantime, we will focus on improving our current facility so it best meets the needs of today’s users, as well as future generations. We will also continue to share the space with our agricultural partners like 4-H, to provide educational and recreational programming for all of Missoula County.

The show of support from our community was inspiring, and we thank everyone who advocated on our behalf.”
