Griz Hockey Returns to Glacier Ice Rink

We are excited to partner with the University of Montana to bring ACHA hockey back to Missoula. Griz Hockey will offer another level of competitive hockey at Glacier Ice Rink, while complementing our existing programs. We look forward to growing the game of hockey in the Missoula community, as well as raising interest in hockey, skating, and other ice sports among UM students. Media release from UM is below.

The University of Montana Hockey Program is excited to announce that they will be launching a
competitive college hockey program to compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA)
Division 2. The goal of Griz Hockey is to provide student athletes the opportunity to play competitive
college hockey while earning a degree from the University of Montana and growing while promoting UM
to the larger hockey community in Montana and beyond.

Mike Anderson, former assistant coach of the NA3HL Junior Bruins, and Will Grossman, manager
of HockeyWolf, have been appointed Co-Head Coaches to lead the Grizzly Hockey team in its
inaugural season, set to take the ice in the fall of 2021.

The team will be playing a largely regional schedule in its first season of play including national powers
from the Treasure State like Montana State and University of Providence (Great Falls) as well Montana
State Northern (also entering their first season of ACHA), Eastern Washington, Idaho, Gonzaga and
more.

The Griz Hockey team will play at the Glacier Ice Rink and plans to host around 12 home games during
its first season. The official schedule will be released mid-summer.

The Griz Hockey team has established an executive board including Ryan Geiges from the Glacier Ice
Rink, Doug Coffin from the University of Montana, and Tucker Sargent Board President and University of
Montana Lacrosse Coach to help guide the program.
