The Missoula Area Youth Hockey Association offers two avenues for youth to participate in hockey:

The In-House program provides all skaters with an equal opportunity to enjoy the game of hockey and develop personal and team cooperation skills.

The Travel program allows players to compete at an advanced level and to enhance team play by integrating each player’s skills. Equal ice time for all players is not a requirement in the Travel Program.

In-House Programs

In-House program fees include two hours of ice time each week for Termite, Mite, Squirt and PeeWee players. These players will participate in practices and then move on to games, all taught by volunteer coaches. Players at these levels receive a jersey that is theirs to keep.

Bantam/high school players are placed on teams within the first two weeks of the season and play weekly games, that end in a best-of-three series championship. The 19-20 season will include and end-of-season no-check tournament with out-of-town teams. There is no added charge for Missoula players and we will announce the tournament date in November. The program provides jerseys for these players that must be returned at the end of the season.

The Girls Development program is designed for girls ages 10-15 who are new to hockey. They receive one hour of ice a week and a jersey to keep.

The Goalie Skills clinic is open to goalies of all ages and abilities. The clinic consists of bi-weekly ice sessions offering specialized goalie training under the supervision of experienced goaltending coaches. The clinic begins November 5 and runs every other Tuesday morning through February.

Schedule

The in-house season runs 14-weeks – November 4 through February 19 – with a two-week break over the holidays between December 23 and January 1. Termites, Mites and Squirts can choose either a full season or half season: November 4–December 18, 2019 or January 6–February 19, 2020. See the table below for the specific days and times.

Parent Meetings Second Half

Termite, Mite, and Squirt Second Half – Monday, January 6th at 5:15 pm at the rink

House Plus

House Plus (formerly Select) programs are available for Mite, Squirt and Peewee ages. House Plus players participate during the regular weekly house practices and receive an additional 10 hours of practice times, from October through February. House Plus players also travel to 4-5 games and tournaments during the season and must commit to traveling to most of the scheduled tournaments (additional costs are involved). Spots are limited to the first 20 registered players. See the teams’ schedules as of September 27.
